MHOA Mentor Program

MHOA has developed a formal Mentor Program for training new officials.  If you are interested in becoming an ice hockey official for MHOA you must successfully complete the MHOA Mentor Program.  Successful graduates of the Mentor Program become members of MHOA, and are then assigned games as a regular official.

Program Information

Minimum Age Requirement: 14

Prerequisite:  MUST attend Orientation Meeting to be considered.  If you are under the age of 17 a parent MUST attend the orientation.

Next Scheduled Orientation:  Fall 2009

Current Mentor Class:  Spring 2009

Mentor Class Information

  • If invited to join the program you will be required to attend 12 hours of classroom training and 3 hours of ice training.
  • After you complete the training you will spend about 4 months working games with Senior Officials of MHOA.
  • Upon graduation from the Mentor Program you would then be put on MHOA’s normal schedule.

You may contact Bob Williams, Mentor Program Director, at mentordirector@mhoa.org for additional information.  You can also keep checking MHOA's web page for additional details as they become available.

Help a Referee

Support Barry Feil

As you may have heard, long-time MHOA referee Barry Feil was recently diagnosed with throat cancer and is currently undergoing treatment. As you can imagine, this is a tough time for Barry, both physically and financially.  A website has been setup with information on how you can help Barry during this challenging time:  www.HelpBarry.com.

Edd Baker Family Support Fund

Edd Baker Family Support Fund

A message from MHOA President, Ken Reinhard: I asked Tim Zemens to spearhead an effort on behalf of MHOA -- Below is his message.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ladies & Gentlemen:

I have opened up an account at Bank of America. It is called the "Edd Baker Family Support Fund", the
Account # is: 488019278115.

The account was opened to help Edd's family during this troubled time. If you would like to donate to help the family, you can go to any Bank of America and donate as you wish. The proceeds will go to the family to be used as they see fit.

To Lori and the Family:
We all share in your tragedy. Edd touched so many of us in a positive way. May we all earn the respect in our lives that Eddy has earned.

Sincere Regards,
Tim Zemens (Edd's friend and admirer)
"I'll keep you in my heart for a while"
