MHOA's Mission:

The purpose of MHOA shall be to register and train ice hockey officials for USA Hockey, Inc. and others in the State of Texas for the purposes of improving the quality of amateur and professional hockey in the state, for ensuring uniformity of rule interpretation, for creating better understanding between officials, coaches, players and other persons, for the developing of more efficient officiating and maintaining the highest standards of officiating, for providing a forum for the discussion and dissemination of information on ice hockey rules, procedures and interpretations, and generally promoting the welfare of amateur and professional hockey, its players, administrators, fans and officials.

MHOA Annual Meeting

Notice of Annual Meeting

In accordance with the MHOA Constitution & By-laws, the annual meeting will be held on June 7, at 2:00 pm at the Dr Pepper Stars Center Farmers Branch.

During this meeting the elections for all officers will take place.

If you desire to run for election, or if you wish to nominate someone, please submit the information to the MHOA secretary (secretary@mhoa.org).  Any additional information you wish to provide regarding your nomination will also be accepted.

The by-laws state that no more than 4 candidates for each office can be on the ballot. The qualifications, duties and responsibilities of all officers can be found in the MHOA Constitution and By-laws.

This is our organization - please attend the meeting and exercise your voting privileges.

MHOA Mentor Program

MHOA Mentor Program

MHOA has developed a formal Mentor Program for training new officials.  If you are interested in becoming an ice hockey official for MHOA you must successfully complete the MHOA Mentor Program.  Successful graduates of the Mentor Program become members of MHOA, and are then assigned games as a regular official.

Program Information

Minimum Age Requirement: 14

Prerequisite:  MUST attend Orientation Meeting to be considered.  If you are under the age of 17 a parent MUST attend the orientation.

Next Scheduled Orientation:  Fall 2008

Current Mentor Class:  Spring 2008 (class is full), no new applications can be accepted.

Mentor Class Information

  • If invited to join the program you will be required to attend 12 hours of classroom training and 3 hours of ice training.
  • After you complete the training you will spend about 4 months working games with Senior Officials of MHOA.
  • Upon graduation from the Mentor Program you would then be put on MHOA’s normal schedule.

Welcome to the MHOA website! If you are a MHOA member, but do not know your login name / password for accessing the "Members Area" of this site, email webmaster@mhoa.org to request login info. Please include in the email: your full name, USA Hockey Level, and birthdate.

In the "Members Area", you'll find special announcements just for members, useful documents, and a current Member Directory. In addition, you'll be able to view and update your contact information and learn about MHOA's email distribution lists.

Note: MHOA.org Members Area access is restricted to those officials who reside in the DFW area and regularly officiate games for MHOA. If you are an out-of-town official who travels to DFW occassionally to work games, the Rules page and Rinks page within the "Public Area" of this site contain the information you require.
